Anthony Patch (our protagonist): Harvard scholar, writer, famous last name, Mr. Handsome.

But, Anthony isn't really THAT perfect.

He's often described as being fairly lazy (especially towards his writing career.) In fact, one could make an argument that he doesn't even care about his writing career either based on how little he's willing to produce.

And while Anthony was a bachelor, he was pretty full of himself and very picky when it came to finding a love interest. He also would exclaim he had no interest in marriage, but deep down inside he wanted to be tied down to a girl who matched him on the attractive level. (Conceited? Possibly.) He was kind of a hopeless romantic, come to think of it.

After meeting Gloria though, Anthony was practically mesmerized and would literally kill (I mean it!) to have Gloria all to himself.

And it happened. He married her. (*Flavor Flav voice* Yeaah boii.)

But their relationship wasn't the picture perfect caliber Anthony hoped it would be. Considering they're awful people to begin with and way too similar in that retrospect, they resorted to a lot of booze and partying to get rid of their issues. Also, Anthony's jealousy towards the friendship of Gloria and Bloeckman really brought him to a demise. Ultimately, Anthony lost it towards the end of the book.
